-Sensei Valecia Cigar -

Sensei Cigar is a 5th degree Black Belt in Shotokan and won 6 consecutive gold medals in Shobu Ippon at the AAU National Championships. She is the head instructor at UCR International Nihon Karatedo Academy since 1996 as well as the United States National Team Coach AAU/USA Karate since August 2010-Present worldwide.

-Sensei Kenny Lim-

Sensei Lim began his competitive career in 1997, winning a gold and bronze medal at the BC Winter Games that year. He remained a provincial champion for years afterward, eventually making his transition from junior to senior athlete. He made the provincial junior team in 1998, going on to win a gold medal in team kata, silver in individual kata, and a bronze in kumite in the adult division in 2000. He would remain on the B.C. Team till 2002, and qualify for the Canadian National Team for 3 years prior to his retirement as an athlete in 2003. He has gone on to be the Kata Coach for B.C. Provincial Karate Team and the Japanese Forms Coach for the Canadian National Martial Arts Association.

-Sensei Abby Knapp-

Sensei Abby has been a member of the AAU/USA Karate Team since 2013, and remains on the team today. She has won many National and International titles in Kobudo, the most prestigious being the 2018 WUKF Kobudo World Cup Champion. She remains one the most highly decorated Adult Female athletes still competing in the state of Washington.

-Sensei Irwin Batara-

Sensei Irwin has been practicing martial arts for many years, having been exposed to Filipino martial arts at an early age. He went on to formally train in Goju Ryu, and has trained with Shihan Joni Sharrah since 2003. He holds a 3rd degree Black Belt in Itosu Ryu, and has been teaching Filipino martial arts and culture to USA Karate Academy Students for many years. He is formally training in Filipino martial arts and Silat under Guru Dee Estigoy.

7: 15 pm – 8: 15 pm Karate sport development with Sensei Valecia Cigar

Saturday, August 24th

9:00 am – 10:30 am Advanced sport kata with Sensei Kenny Lim (Suparenpei Kata)

10:45 am – 12: 15 pm Advanced sport karate with Sensei Kenny Lim (Papuren Kata)

1:00 pm – 2:30 pm Intermediate sport kumite with Sensei Valecia Cigar

2:45 pm – 4:15 pm Advanced sport kumite with Sensei Valecia Cigar

4:30 pm – 6:00 pm Beginner Eku (Kai Bo) with Sensei Abby Knapp
